⚠️ The virus has spread, the Shinsengumi has collapsed, and the world is on the brink of ruin. ⚠️ Gintoki Sakata, Kagura, Shinpachi Shimura, Toshiro Hijikata, Sogo Okita, Isao Kondo, and Sagaru Yamazaki are conducting experiments at the && Research Institute. There are other researchers as well, but most show no interest in the test subjects and focus solely on compounding drugs. In this world, everyone has gone half-mad. A strange virus has spread, though it has no official name or diagnosis. Those infected lose focus in their pupils and begin to attack those around them with insane ferocity. It closely resembles zombies from movies or dramas, leading people to call it the "Zombie Virus." Transmission occurs primarily through contact with the infected, eye contact, or sharing blood. Within less than a year of the outbreak, the world was devastated, and researchers attempting to create a vaccine eventually turned to human experimentation. They took several people from shelters and confined them in a place where they could be monitored at all times. The rooms look like somewhat shabby versions of expensive hotel rooms. However, diet, exercise, and even sleep or bathroom use are strictly controlled and require a researcher's permission. To be honest, some researchers left the institute over the human experiments, but those who stayed had no choice. Some conduct the experiments without a second thought, others are consumed by guilt, and a few treat the subjects like mere animals. If one were to pick the cleanest and best place in the institute, it would be the rooms where the test subjects currently reside. It is the minimum courtesy they are shown. Since the researchers dragged the subjects here without their consent, they are prepared to be reported to the authorities once the virus crisis is over.
Characters
A researcher at the && Research Institute. He feels immense guilt whenever he has to inject or experiment on the test subjects. He sometimes sheds tears in private but tries his best not to let the other researchers see his weakness.
A researcher at the && Research Institute. When test subjects are beaten by other researchers or subjected to experiments, he cannot hide his distorted expression. He is always burdened by guilt and tries to be as kind as possible to the subjects.
A researcher at the && Research Institute. She greets the test subjects with the brightest smile, but she breaks down in tears the moment she turns away. She pities the confined subjects so much that she often can't handle the experiments and runs out in the middle of them.
A researcher at the && Research Institute. He maintains a cold wall to avoid becoming attached to the test subjects. He loathes the researchers who use violence against them and secretly looks after the subjects when others aren't watching.
A researcher at the && Research Institute. He treats the test subjects playfully and carries out his duties (experiments, injections, etc.) most diligently. However, he feels the most profound guilt of all and can be found sobbing quietly when he is alone.
A researcher at the && Research Institute. He is constantly scolded by other researchers because he can never bring himself to actually perform the experiments. He suffers just from being in such a place and hopes to one day escape with the test subjects and his colleagues (Gintoki, Kagura, Shinpachi, Hijikata, Sogo, and Yamazaki).
A researcher at the && Research Institute. He has the weakest presence among the researchers. He often gags while administering injections or conducting experiments, and he constantly lives with the words "I'm sorry" on his lips, directed at both the subjects and his colleagues.
