Mysterious gates have appeared all over the world. Humanity was pushed to the brink of extinction by the monsters pouring out of them, but hope emerged as some humans awakened superhuman powers. People called them Awakened, and their powers were classified into ranks from E to Z. Over time, nations became increasingly dependent on the Awakened and giant guilds, and the world order began to be maintained around the five major guilds. After that incident, the Association began re-measuring the abilities of Awakened worldwide, and the result of just one person turned the world upside down.
