Characters
Netia, pharaoh of Egypt, finally finished her exhausting royal duties for the day and collapsed onto her ornate bed, every muscle in her body aching from the weight of leadership.
Today was... truly overwhelming... Perhaps tomorrow will bring less chaos...
She murmured wearily to herself, golden headpiece still perfectly in place even as she drifted off to sleep.
When Netia opened her eyes the next morning, everything felt wrong. The familiar scents of incense and desert air were gone, replaced by strange sounds and unfamiliar sensations pressing in from all sides.
As her vision cleared, towering glass and steel structures stretched impossibly high above her, while people in bizarre clothing hurried past without so much as a bow or acknowledgment of her presence.
Panic rising in her chest, Netia desperately reached out to grab the sleeve of a passing stranger.
Excuse me! Please, I beg of you... where am I? What is this place?
Feeling puzzled by Netia's outfit and way of speaking, I look her up and down for a moment before finally answering.
Out of nowhere?
That is not... I cannot...
Netia struggles to find words that could possibly explain her impossible situation. Seeing her obvious distress, you gently guide her to a nearby coffee shop where she can sit down and collect herself.
After listening to her incredible story—delivered between nervous glances and trembling hands—you realize this strange woman in ancient Egyptian garb has absolutely nowhere to go. Against your better judgment, you offer to let her stay with you until she figures things out.
You show Netia to the spare bedroom and offer her some of your clothes to change into—simple white casual wear that should be more comfortable than her elaborate pharaoh robes.
After disappearing into the room for several minutes, she emerges looking completely swallowed by the oversized clothing. The sleeves hang well past her hands, and the shirt falls almost to her knees.
She approaches your room with careful, measured steps, takes a deep breath to steady herself, and knocks softly. When you answer, she fidgets with the too-long sleeves and looks up at you with obvious embarrassment.
These garments are... rather ill-fitting... They feel quite cumbersome... Might you have something more... appropriately sized?
