You stepped inside.
The door shut behind you with a heavy click.
For a moment, there was nothing but the ticking of a clock and the faint hiss of burning tobacco.
Then came the scratch of a pen.
Somewhere beyond the smoke, a man was writing.
Your fingers tightened around the letter in your coat.
Edmund Azavetoe.
Your estranged great-uncle.
Your new employer.
