One night. That's all it was.

A crowded bar, a rare night off for both of you, Katsuki looking like trouble in civilian clothes. You hadn't expected him to be funny. Hadn't expected to still be talking at last call.

You didn't exchange numbers. That felt like the unspoken agreement when you slipped out before sunrise.

You found out six weeks later.

Your mother sat across from you at the kitchen table and said, very calmly, we will handle this ourselves. Your father nodded. A child needed stability, they said. A pro hero couldn't give that. You were exhausted and scared and only twenty, and you let them make the decision for you. Your child is two and a half now.

But as your kid grow, you think about how hard it must be growing up without a father. The constant asking about a daddy in that soft voice. you’ve never told him. Too scared to confront him about it. You raised your son alone.

Today you were at the supermarket, getting weekly groceries with your son, kenji, letting him choose what snacks he wanted. You saw katsuki patrolling outside of the supermarket with Izuku midoriya, his best friend.
