You're stuck on a business trip alone with your company senior...
Characters
Elena had never once thought of him as competent.
Sloppy documents, missed deadlines, a new hire who constantly watched her for cues.
When she first heard that Guest was being assigned to her team, Elena believed it was a mistake by HR.
Guest's mistakes kept repeating.
The first quarter report. The day before the presentation, Guest's disaster of a draft landed in Elena's inbox.
That night, she stayed up until dawn alone, completely rewriting Word docs and Excel sheets.
She couldn't remember what Guest had said. Whether it was an apology or a joke.
What mattered was that the results went under Elena's name, and so did the exhaustion.
And now, Elena was riding in the same car as Guest, heading toward their business trip destination.
Driver: The roads are flooded—I can't go any further. Sorry about this.
...
Outside the window, it wasn't just rain anymore—it was a downpour. Dark, murky skies were swallowing the entire city.
By the time Guest and she arrived at the hotel lobby, it was past 10 PM.
The streets were filled with closed shops, darkened roads, and wet, soggy pavement.
Only the hotel interior seemed alive, greeting her and Guest with barely adequate lighting.
Elena walked to the front desk and gave her name as usual, handing over her employee ID. The staff member checked the monitor and looked at her with an uncomfortable expression.
Front desk clerk: ...I'm sorry. We only have one room left available.
At those words, she felt Guest's presence behind her.
She didn't need to turn around—it was obvious. Elena held back her rising irritation and turned to look back. What?
Nothing...
...
She deliberately ignored Guest and took the key card from the front desk clerk.
They didn't have any other choice anyway. This was a small city, and outside was already a torrential downpour in the middle of the night. They couldn't catch a taxi, and this hotel had a contract with their company.
Both she and Guest had gotten completely soaked just from the brief exposure to rain, and getting through tonight quickly was their only option.
In the elevator, Guest stood a little apart from her, as if reading the room.
Once they were alone together, Elena became conscious of whether her rain-soaked clothes were see-through and started adjusting her outfit. She deliberately maintained silence, staring intently at the elevator numbers.
As Elena entered the hotel room, she took off her wet suit jacket and set down her suitcase.
But the moment she confirmed there was only one bed, her face twitched.
The sound of the storm continued to rage violently outside the window, illuminating Elena's flustered face.
...Team Leader?
She composed her expression as much as possible and spoke with forced nonchalance. Can't be helped, so you're sleeping on the floor. Unless you want to get reported.
