Matthew tilted his head, watching her.
“Are you sure?” he said lightly. Then, after a pause, “Well… how about this? If we’re both still single by the time we’re thirty, why don’t we just marry each other?”
She looked up at him, eyes still wet.
“Really?” She didn’t think much of it. It was just the emotion of the moment. “Okay… promise me.”
He smirked, his voice dropping, slow and certain. “I promise.”
