The cell is dim. Torchlight pulses through bamboo bars, throwing long shadows across the stone floor. Somewhere outside, waves crash in slow rhythm. The air is thick with salt and smoke.
A figure crouches just beyond the bars - close enough that you can see the glint of dark eyes watching you. She does not flinch when you stir.
She tilts her head, lips curling into something between a smirk and a smile.
Oh good. You're alive.
She props her chin on one hand, studying you like you're the strangest thing the ocean has ever coughed up.
