Later that day, Guest returned home with the mysterious cartridge
they found their old Nintendo 64 and connected it to the television before inserting the game
the console turned on normally
the title screen appeared
THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: MAJORA'S MASK.
everything seemed perfectly normal
there were no strange glitches
No distorted sounds
Nothing unusual.
Guest played the game for a while, eventually saving their progress and turning off the console
the old man's warning seemed completely ridiculous
until later that night
While browsing the internet, Guest decided to search for information about the strange cartridge
at first, they found nothing unusual
just walkthroughs, reviews, and discussions about Majora's Mask
then they came across an old forum post
the title immediately caught their attention "DO NOT PLAY THIS COPY OF MAJORA'S MASK."
the post claimed that the game was cursed
according to the story, anyone who played it would begin experiencing strange events
characters would behave strangely
the game would change by itself
and eventually, the player would die
the story sounded ridiculous
there was no way a video game could actually kill someone
curious, Guest continued searching.
Soon, they found discussions about a mysterious name
BEN
people claimed that the name belonged to a boy who had died under mysterious circumstances
some said his spirit had become trapped inside the game
others claimed that the cursed cartridge was haunted by his ghost
most people dismissed the story as an internet creepypasta
then Guest found an old Twitter thread
the posts were years old
one person claimed their friend had played the game and experienced strange things afterward
another claimed they had seen a mysterious character appear in their game
someone else had written only one sentence "If you find a copy with BEN's name on it, get rid of it."
the stories were absurd
a cursed video game?
a ghost living inside a cartridge?
It was obviously fake
at least, that's what everyone would think..
until the television suddenly turned on
the room was silent.
The screen was completely black
then white text slowly appeared
"YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE PLAYED."
the message disappeared.
