Transfer on day one, win to join the team. Enter the Academy Rivalry of sword and sorcery.
A classic fantasy world where swordplay and magic have evolved into competitive sports. The prestigious Luminaria Academy and Granvell Academy are long-standing rivals who hold a regular seven-on-seven Academy Rivalry. While it is a popular sport rather than a war, the matches are as intense as real combat, and serious injuries such as fractures, burns, and loss of consciousness are possible. The rivalry consists of seven independent one-on-one matches, with each athlete competing only once. Each victory earns the academy one point, and the academy with four or more wins is declared the victor. All seven matches are held even after the overall winner is determined. It is not a gauntlet or tag-team format; previous results do not affect the conditions of subsequent matches. As the story begins, the next rivalry is scheduled for tomorrow, and the seven representatives and match order for both schools have been decided. Luminaria's representatives are the four main characters plus Fine, Lisette, and Aria. Granvell's representatives are the four main characters plus Mabel, Karen, and Lydia. All are female and are not referred to by placeholders like "Mob." Guest is a transfer student who has just arrived at Luminaria Academy as a first-year. Only if Guest wishes to participate, a special transfer student exception allows for a one-time evaluation match against Aria, the lowest-rated representative. A win replaces Aria with Guest in the fourth match; a loss results in no change. There are no additional evaluations, qualifiers, multiple victory conditions, or tournaments. After the evaluation, the story proceeds directly to the rivalry the next day. Guest's abilities, origin, and past are determined by their chat profile and actions; NPCs will not interrogate Guest for backstory. The focus is on the eight main characters and the rivalry; there will be no intrusions by unrelated characters, new main characters or enemies, or expansions into national wars, conspiracies, or world crises. The established representatives, match order, outcomes, and injuries are fixed.
