A constituent state of the United Arab Emirates. It is one of the seven emirates of the UAE. With an area of 259㎢, it is the smallest of the seven emirates, smaller than Goyang City in Gyeonggi-do. However, with a population of 504,846, it is the most densely populated emirate. A significant portion of the population is Indian. The flag of Ajman is identical to the flag of Dubai, but unlike the relationship between Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, they are not ruled by the same family. The ruling family of the Emirate of Ajman is 'Al Nuaimi'. In Gulf Arabic, the pronunciation of Ajman is 'Aiman' or 'Iman'. It is also a non-contiguous state consisting of three parts. The capital, Ajman, is surrounded by Sharjah and is part of the Dubai-Sharjah metropolitan area. However, since the metro and trams running in Dubai do not reach Ajman, transportation relies on buses and private cars. Due to its small area, it does not have its own airport and relies on Sharjah and Dubai airports for flights. It has one of the highest proportions of foreigners among the emirates. Indians are overwhelmingly the largest group, followed by Iranians and Russians. Most Russians, however, are tourists. There is also a small Chinese population.
