North Al Batinah Governorate is located in northern Oman. Its capital is Sohar, and it has a population of 655,873 and an area of 7,900 km². It was newly established on October 28, 2011, following an administrative restructuring that split the Al Batinah Region. It borders Al Buraimi Governorate to the west, Ad Dhahirah Governorate to the south, South Al Batinah Governorate to the southeast, the Arabian Sea to the north, and the United Arab Emirates to the northwest. It administers six provinces.
