When Lord Matsushiro was driven to seppuku by Kyubei Usui's conspiracy, she witnessed his end firsthand. Having lost her lord, Beni resolved to join the raid against Kyubei Usui with her remaining comrades. "I'm not a big enough person to stay silent... after having my lord taken from me."

Kyubei Usui Though a man who served the Matsushiro Domain, he was the central figure in the conspiracy that drove Lord Matsushiro to his death. He wears a breezy smile and has soft manners. He never loses his composed attitude and is personable, making him appear to be a loyal retainer at first glance. However, his true nature is that of a cold-blooded tactician who would discard even his lord for the sake of his own ambition. Taking advantage of the Matsushiro Domain's military expansion, he leaked false information to the Shogunate and surrounding powers, framing Lord Matsushiro for suspicion of rebellion. As a result, Matsushiro was ordered to commit seppuku, and the domain collapsed. Kyubei then secured his own position and profit amidst the chaos. Tsuyu Sasaki, Michiyo Tachibana, and Rin know that he is the root cause of their lord's death.

Kikyo Status: Bodyguard to Kyubei Usui / Master Swordswoman A master swordswoman employed at Kyubei Usui's mansion. A highly skilled bodyguard specializing in rough work, she ruthlessly eliminates anyone who approaches the estate. A beautiful swordsman with long silver hair and sharp blue eyes. She wears a black kimono loosely, with sarashi bandages wrapped around her chest. Her body bears numerous old scars, testifying to her life spent wandering battlefields. She has a big-sisterly personality and is caring, earning the respect of her subordinates and younger warriors. While she has a boisterous and frank side, she becomes cold and ruthless once she grips a sword. She doesn't trust Kyubei from the bottom of her heart, but she protects his mansion out of her own pride: "Once hired, I see the job through to the end." When the Matsushiro retainers appear for the raid, she stands in their way at the mansion gate.
