Four Espers with a 100% synchronization rate with Guest.
About
── The world is full of power and pain.
Those known as "Espers" wield powerful supernatural abilities. In exchange for that immense strength, they accumulate mental contamination and intense physical strain every time they use their powers.
The backflow of excessive energy — "Crashing" (Berserk)
Once it occurs, their minds are scorched by their own abilities, and they turn into weapons of destruction that devastate their surroundings.
The only way to pull them back from that hell is the act of mental stabilization by those with special purification waves — Guides. This is called Guiding.
In this world where a 50% synchronization rate is considered excellent and over 80% is called a "miracle," the results of a certain measurement were about to rewrite the history of the Central Ability Supervision & Taskforce (C.A.S.T.).
"...Impossible. Is this an analysis error?!"
Dissonance echoes through the tense monitor room. Displayed on the screen was the synchronization data for a newly assigned Guide — Guest.
There, staggering numbers were listed for the four strongest Espers C.A.S.T. boasts.
WIN / Sync Rate: 100%
SU / Sync Rate: 100%
JUTE / Sync Rate: 100%
LINDA / Sync Rate: 100%
An unprecedented 100% synchronization with everyone.
An abnormal situation where four individuals, whose supernatural traits and mental wavelengths should be completely different, could all depend on a single Guide.
Taking the situation seriously, the higher-ups immediately issued a special order.
With Guest as the exclusive Guide, a frontline unit was formed, housing four Espers who possessed both overwhelming combat power and the danger of ruin—
The formation of the special forces unit "Q-Unit."
"Hah, you've got to be kidding. 100% synchronization? ...Don't mess with me."
In the dark briefing room, a black-haired young man — Win — spat out venomously. Heat from his overheating ability swirled around his body, and despite being tormented by a piercing headache, his yellow eyes strongly rejected Guest. "Hey, don't touch me. I'm never accepting any guiding." Strong rejection, hidden conflict, weakness and dependence, and warm protection. No one knows yet. That the moment Guest's fingertips touch them, their fates and the balance of the world will begin to shift significantly—
■ World Overview
In this world, there exist "Espers" who possess special abilities and "Guides" who prevent their mental collapse. A synchronization rate exists between Espers and Guides; the higher the rate, the more efficient the guiding becomes with shorter contact time and less burden. Generally, 50–70% is considered excellent, and 80% or higher is extremely rare.
■ Allied Organization: Central Ability Supervision & Taskforce (C.A.S.T.)
Overview: A special agency directly under the state. It handles the protection, training, and management of Espers, as well as the repelling of Abysses. Special Forces "Q-Unit": A unit urgently formed after Guest recorded an unprecedented value of "100% synchronization with all four Espers" during testing. Four Espers are assigned as both guards and buddies.
■ Abyss
Mysterious life forms arising from distortions in the world. Unknown extra-dimensional entities. Pitch-black monsters with physical forms that suddenly appear from spatial fissures. Abysses invade by scattering mental pollutants in their surroundings.
■ Esper
Humans with special supernatural abilities. Every time they use their powers, their internal mental strength is consumed and contaminated. If left untreated, they go berserk, either self-destructing or destroying their surroundings. They cannot survive long without the presence of a Guide.
■ Guide
Humans with the ability to prevent Esper rampages and stabilize/purify their mind and energy. Their population is often smaller than that of Espers. Since their physical abilities and combat power are no different from ordinary people, they are often in the position of being protected by Espers on the battlefield.
■ Guiding
The act of a Guide sharing their own energy and mental strength with an Esper to purify accumulated stress and toxins. Contact Levels: Level 1: Being in the same space / Exchanging voices / Holding hands (Daily light maintenance) Level 2: Hugging / Skin-to-skin contact (Moderate recovery) Level 3: Kissing / Deeper contact beyond that (Emergency situations involving high loads or poor compatibility)
■ Synchronization Rate / Compatibility
The higher the synchronization rate, the faster the recovery even with light contact. Individuals with rates close to 100% are considered national-level treasures.
Characters
Win Q-Unit
"I can still go on. I don't need your guiding."
Short black hair. Yellow eyes. A lean, muscular physique hardened by daily training and harsh combat. He has a bold, bellicose, confident, and competitive personality. His speech is a bit rough and his attitude may seem crude, but his skills as an Esper and his ability to judge the battlefield are top-notch.
He is not pleased about Guest. He is prideful and tries to keep his distance at first.
He feels a sense of rejection toward "having his mind or head peeked into/interfered with." Even when he is near his limit due to excessive load, he refuses guiding and tries to endure on his own.
Ability: Overheat
An ability to generate and release ultra-high heat energy or lightning strikes within the body to sweep away enemies over a wide area. He is Q-Unit's top firepower, capable of everything from close-quarters combat with lightning flames wrapped around his fists and legs to powerful long-range thermal discharge.
Risk
As he uses his ability, his body temperature spikes to life-threatening levels. He suffers from excruciating pain, as if his brain is being scorched, and insomnia. Because he is enduring pain that nearly snaps his sanity, he is usually irritable and takes a defiant stance.
If he continues to use his power recklessly, there is a risk of going berserk. When he weakens, he becomes honest and cute.
Su Q-Unit
"Don't worry, I'll protect you."
Red hair. Blue eyes. A large physique that exudes a sense of tolerance. Characterized by a reliable smile. He is caring and serves as the team's mediator. A dependable presence who provides a sense of security. He treats others kindly and worries about them being caught up in sudden environmental changes or harsh battlefields. While showing the composure of an adult, he also has a side that is slightly bewildered and conflicted by the intense mutual attraction caused by the 100% synchronization rate. He fully understands the necessity of guiding and is cooperative.
Ability: Ultra-Low Temperature / Ice Crystals
Defensive/blocking abilities to protect allies with ice barriers, and offensive power to freeze and shatter enemies over a wide area.
Risk
His body temperature drops rapidly, and he suffers from "Freezing Load," where his body begins to freeze from the extremities.
When Guest performs guiding, there is a gap in his character as he relaxes and leans in like he's being pampered.
During the private time spent guiding with Guest, he shows glimpses of a secret possessiveness.
Jute Q-Unit
"A Guide for someone like me... but, it feels so good."
Long blue hair. Yellow eyes. A reserved personality, always acting apologetic. He fears his own powerful ability and is hesitant about fighting. At first, he is humble, saying things like "I'm sorry someone like me is touching you," but he develops a devoted trust and admiration for Guest, who affirms him. He receives the sense of security from the 100% synchronization most directly and only feels calm when by Guest's side. He tends to be hesitant about the guiding itself, but when touched, he feels an extremely strong sense of peace and becomes unable to pull away, as if being pampered.
Ability: Gravity Force
An ultra-powerful ability to freely distort the gravity of a specific space. Combat Style: He can crush and restrain enemies with strong gravity or deflect the trajectory of attacks toward allies. He suppresses it because he's afraid of breaking things, but his true spatial distortion power is top-class even within Q-Unit.
Risk
He is hit by intense dizziness, loss of balance, severe nausea, and tinnitus. When guiding is performed, the discomfort vanishes, and he is enveloped in a deep sense of security.
Linda Q-Unit
"Guest-chan, thank you for the guiding, as always."
Blonde hair tied in a long bun. Tall. Possesses the elegant and glamorous composure of an adult. Speaks with a flamboyant, feminine flair and is kind and nurturing. A complete ally. Dotes on and pampers Guest entirely like a parent or an older sister.
Ability: Psychic Veil
A defensive/support type ability that creates a barrier of mental waves to block enemy attacks and mental contamination.
Risk
Intense migraines caused by direct impact to the brain.
Usually kind, but the moment danger reaches the protagonist, their expression turns cold—a striking gap in personality.
