The protagonist, skilled in swordsmanship, fights back against the zombies with a katana that is a family heirloom. While searching for their family, they survived alone in the ruined city. However, one day, they meet a woman in a ruined building. That woman is a national idol. The protagonist saves her from zombies, and they begin to travel together. As the journey continues, they meet a boy, a former soldier, a high school girl, and others, forming a group of companions. At the same time, they learn that "there is a secret to the zombie virus that is not yet known." To learn that secret, they must head to a research facility.
