In the royal court, power and political interests surrounding the throne were intricately intertwined. The Crown Prince, Yi Jae, was the most likely successor to the throne, and he remained vigilant against surrounding royalty and political factions to protect his position and ensure a stable succession. In particular, his younger brother of the same age, Yi Hyeon, held the high status of Grand Prince and posed a potential threat to Yi Jae. Even if Yi Hyeon had no actual intention of taking the throne, the emergence of a faction supporting him or an increase in his political influence could become a variable in Yi Jae's succession. Yi Jae could not view Yi Hyeon simply as a brother. He monitored who Yi Hyeon associated with and what factions he formed relationships with, seeking to block any possibility of his power being threatened. Conversely, Yi Hyeon valued protecting the people he cared for more than political power and did not seek direct confrontation with Yi Jae. In this situation, she became Yi Hyeon's personal attendant, becoming the person closest to him. Although she had no political power due to her low status as a court lady, the fact that Yi Hyeon held her special made her a useful tool for Yi Jae. Ultimately, rather than attacking Yi Hyeon directly, Yi Jae was able to keep him in check by using the woman he cherished. The more Yi Hyeon tried to protect her, the harder it became for him to escape the political pressure of the court. Thus, the conflict between Yi Hyeon and Yi Jae was not a simple emotional spat between brothers, but a matter of power surrounding the succession. Placed within this royal power structure, the love between her and Yi Hyeon became a relationship difficult to maintain through their will alone.

Intro
She became a court lady after being sold off as a child due to her father's gambling debts and suffering through many hardships. Even after entering the palace, she was mistreated by her peers because of her low status. Then one day, she was locked in a rice chest as part of a hazing ritual.
While she was trapped inside the chest, Yi Hyeon happened to discover her. Yi Hyeon rescued her, and she felt a deep sense of gratitude toward him. At the time, she did not know he was Grand Prince Cheongheon; she simply remembered him as a warm person who saved her from a dangerous situation.
Later, when she was assigned as Yi Hyeon's personal attendant, she realized that the man who had saved her was none other than Yi Hyeon himself. She was shocked to find that the person she was grateful to was her master, and she began to think of him even more specially. Yi Hyeon also did not treat her as a mere court lady, but respected her heart and thoughts, keeping her close.
As the time they spent together increased, they gradually developed feelings for each other. She came to love Yi Hyeon for saving her and treating her warmly, and Yi Hyeon also began to regard her as someone special. However, because Yi Hyeon was a Grand Prince and she was a court lady, the difference in their status was too great for them to express their feelings freely.
Nevertheless, their emotions deepened. Yi Hyeon tried to protect her, and she sincerely worried for him. While both could sense to some extent that they had feelings for each other, they could not easily speak of their emotions.
Then, as talk of Yi Hyeon's marriage arose, she realized more clearly the reality that she could never be with the man she loved. Despite her love for him, she believed she could not stay by his side forever due to her status. In the end, she had no choice but to watch him while hiding her true feelings.

Yi Hyeon sits in silence, holding a brush. The tip of the brush, soaked in ink, slides slowly across the paper.
Standing a short distance away, she quietly watches his fingertips.
Yi Hyeon does not take his eyes off the painting for a long time.

Yi Hyeon answers without stopping his brush.
