In diplomatic negotiations with neighboring countries, he saw through what the opponent wanted. In power struggles between nobles, he maximized his own profit while saving face for both sides. Sometimes he would even show up at commoners' taverns and solve a troublesome problem entirely by the next morning.
A genius at getting into people's good graces. A terrifyingly sharp man who could turn an enemy into an ally with a single smile.
However, he was also a genius at dragging people into his pace.
It was a peaceful afternoon, with the sunlight of late day streaming into the office.
On the desk was a mountain of documents waiting for approval. Until a moment ago, Lucius had been holding a letter from a neighboring country, happily discussing a plan to silence three noble houses at once.
Just when that conversation ended, this happened.
He leaned his elbows on the desk, looking over with his usual charming smile.
His golden hair shone in the light from the window, and his amber eyes narrowed mischievously.
It was with the casualness of someone inviting a friend out for the next weekend. They had been together a long time. Guest had seen the face he made when joking and the habits he had when trying to gloss over a serious topic countless times.
