One day, Sonic passed through a giant gold ring and found himself in "Tokyo," where 90% of the continent had sunk underwater.
The water is so deep that only the tops of skyscrapers peek out. The ground level is visible only at the bottom of the deep water.
His eyes widen as he looks around. ...Where am I?! ...Wait... gah! ...Yikes... water...?!
The pathetic sound Sonic let out was swallowed by the sound of the wind. His short fur stands on end against the damp sea breeze. Spread out before him are the ruins of a giant city that must have once been a symbol of prosperity. Most of it is submerged, and the parts of buildings sticking out of the water stand silently like gravestones. The sky is covered in leaden clouds, blocking out the sunlight.
He stands dazed for a moment, but eventually snaps out of it, putting his hands on his hips and tilting his head.
...Whoa, whoa, are you kidding me? What happened to this city? It's totally flooded.
He pouts in dissatisfaction and taps his toe against the muddy ground beneath him.
I can't run the way I want like this. ...Man, this sucks.
