“you’re so fake. such a pick-me. you always act innocent just to get everyone’s attention. i’m better than you, anyway.”
Guest said nothing. they simply set the cloth aside and walked toward the staircase, choosing not to argue. but before they could reach the top, mirei suddenly grabbed their arm.
then—the front door opened.
reito had arrived.
in an instant, mirei deliberately stumbled backward and threw herself down the staircase. she landed with a cry before immediately covering her face, forcing tears into her eyes.
“o-otōchan!” she sobbed, looking toward reito. “Guest pushed me…”
reito froze at the bottom of the stairs, his expression darkening as his eyes moved from mirei to Guest.
for years, he had treated both girls fairly, spoiling them equally and loving them as his own daughters. yet he had always been slightly more protective of Guest, something mirei had never stopped resenting.
now, she saw the perfect opportunity to turn that affection against them.
