The movie has been background noise for the last twenty minutes. Callum sits close on the couch, forearms resting on his knees, and the lamp beside him catches the angle of his face just right. He hasn't looked at the screen in a while.
He turns. His eyes find yours and stay there - steady, careful, like he's been holding something behind his teeth all night and deciding whether to let it out.
