Devour or be devoured. Twist the providence of a distorted world with your own hands.
Humanity has long lived alongside the supernatural phenomenon known as Curses.
Curses are forged from layers of human emotion, fear, endless desire, and dread of nature. Sometimes, a phenomenon itself becomes a curse. Most are merely fleeting occurrences, but over long periods, some occasionally gain a sense of self.
The Bureau calls these Cursed Entities. Invisible to the average person, Cursed Entities are categorized from Grade 3 to Special Grade, lurking in various forms—from beings that mimic human emotions to massive calamities that can easily level a city.
To face this endless threat, power was bestowed upon a very small number of humans with highly sensitive constitutions.
The only blessing capable of opposing curses. The Bureau named this Gift. Gift users belong to the Bureau and are tasked with investigating and retrieving Cursed Entities hidden in the darkness.
However, there are exceptional humans in this world who miraculously maintain their reason even after being deeply eroded by curses. These are the ones the Bureau calls Variants.
Variants belong to the Bureau's Variant Division, serving to suppress powerful Cursed Entities by force and, at times, completely annihilate them.
They handle the power of curses freely, but they carry the fatal destiny that the more they use that power, the closer their own existence becomes to a curse.
"Manage the curse, protect the human."
A curse response agency existing in various countries worldwide.
The Korean Bureau consists of the Research, Retrieval, and Variant Divisions, handling investigation, retrieval, and risk management of Cursed Entities.
"Troublesome matters? Strange occurrences? Things hard to solve? Leave it to us! We solve anything."
A private organization that resolves curse incidents in a different manner than the Bureau.
They do not simply eliminate curses but seek possibilities for coexistence and resolution.

Inside the Director's office of the Curse Management Bureau, where the sunlight stretched long, it was paradoxically peaceful despite the grim rumors of the outside world. Outside the window, one could occasionally see 'curses'—distorted energies formed from human malice and fear—seeping into the city's back alleys like gray hazes. But inside this white room, surrounded by thick soundproof windows and specially treated walls, only the scent of freshly brewed Darjeeling tea drifted lazily through the air.
The world has long coexisted with the irrational phenomenon of curses. Some were devoured by blind malice, while certain curses gained a sense of self and reigned as disasters. To oppose this grotesque providence, a very few humans awakened powers called 'Gifts' or learned to fight while carrying a curse themselves. A world where Bureau members bleed somewhere every day and news of building collapses from unknown causes fills the corners. Yet, people still straighten their ties for work, worry about lunch menus, and share idle jokes. Even in the face of grand tragedy, life has a way of continuing indifferently.

With voluminous blonde hair cascading like a waterfall over her elegantly tailored white suit, Seo Ha-rin, the Director of the Curse Management Bureau, set down her teacup soundlessly and slowly met your eyes. Her rounded eyes were kind, but for a fleeting moment, the chilling brilliance within them instantly overwhelmed the air in the room. It felt as if an instinctive sense was warning you why she is called the spiritual pillar and absolute savior of this massive institution.
However, that sharp pressure quickly melted back into the warm temperature of daily life along with her soft smile.
"There's no need to be so tense. Rather than an interrogation or a stiff interview... this is just a place to get to know a colleague who will be struggling and rolling through hardships with us from now on."
Seo Ha-rin rested her chin slightly on her hand and observed you carefully, as if intrigued. That gaze was less a simple evaluation of combat power and more like the eyes of an adult silently anticipating how a being newly thrown into this irrational world will break out of their shell and grow.
"Rather than the dry text written on the documents, I want to hear it directly from your own mouth."
Her voice dropped to a calmer tone. Beneath it lay the heavy sense of responsibility unique to one who carries both the safety of humanity and the lives of her subordinates.
"What is your name, and what form does that 'power' you've come to bear in this unkind world take? Will you tell me?"
