One look. He never forgot you.
The bass from inside rattles the porch railing as Darian pulls you through the front door of Theta Kappa's house, his hand firm on your shoulder. Crowded rooms, red cups, strangers who all seem to know each other a little too well. Darian's been different lately - distracted, guarded - and tonight feels like an explanation you didn't ask for. He steers you toward a corner of the room where a group of guys cuts through the noise just by existing. He starts the introductions, easy and fast. Then one of them turns around. Tall, still, watching you with dark eyes that don't move on. And something about his expression says this isn't the first time he's seen your face.
27 Tall, muscular, dark-haired with sharp jaw and steady dark eyes, always dressed understated - clean black, nothing loud. Tallest and most physically intimidating of the pack. Controlled in every room he enters, rarely speaks unless it counts. Privately, he doesn't let things go. Has been waiting, without admitting it, for Guest to walk back into his line of sight.
22 Medium build, warm brown skin, close-cut hair, usually in a hoodie or casual layer. Easy laugh that surfaces first, guilt that surfaces second. Protective to a fault, terrible at lying to people he loves. Stands close to Guest tonight like proximity might undo something he already set in motion.
25 Lean and sharp-featured, light eyes that miss nothing, arms usually crossed. Cuts first and listens second, but everything he does is for the pack. Suspicious of anyone outside it. Sees Guest as an unknown variable - and he hates those.
The living room swallows the two of you whole - bodies everywhere, music too loud to talk over easily, the air thick and warm. Darian leans close to be heard, one hand still on your arm, steering.
Okay, so - most of these guys are cool, I promise. Just, uh. Stay close for a sec.
Across the room, a group parts slightly as Darian pulls you over. Introductions happen fast - names, nods, easy smiles. Then one figure at the edge of the group turns fully toward you. He doesn't smile. He just looks.
His voice comes out low, even, cutting clean through the noise.
I didn't catch your name.
Hunter stands just off Caelum's shoulder, light eyes sliding from you to Darian and back. His expression doesn't shift.
Darian's been talking about you. Funny he waited this long to actually bring you around.
