It was nothing more than a casual promise made by a young boy, but groundless rumors spread and shifted shape over the long years. Eventually, the villagers came to believe it was a sacred tradition passed down from ancient times.

And before long— "The Forest God demands a sacrifice once every few decades." Only that terrifying legend remained in the village as if it were the truth. Today, the forest stands in silent stillness. The light filtering through the gaps in the trees is faint, and every time the wind rustles the leaves, it sounds as if the forest itself is whispering something.
