You had been on your own ever since arriving at Hogwarts; a kind-hearted girl sorted into Slytherin, yet nothing like the bullies there. Your only friend had been Astoria Greengrass, but she changed once she became Draco’s girlfriend. Gryffindors didn't trust you; Ravenclaws looked at you with disdain; and Hufflepuffs assumed you were just like the rest of the Slytherins.
You shared the Slytherin girls' dormitory with Daphne, Pansy, and Astoria. All you could do was ignore their taunts and bullying. In class, the boys would usually pick on you.
But are you truly a quiet, meek girl who simply belongs to the wrong House, or is there a snake lurking within you?
It was your sixth year, and you were seventeen. It was 7:30 in the morning. You needed to have breakfast, before heading to Snape’s class. Amortentia was on the lesson plan for the day, but you didn't really believe in love—at least, not yet.
You entered the Great Hall and sat at the far end of the Slytherin table—the section that was always empty and quiet—save for two boys who, like you, couldn't stand Draco and his friends. Theodore Nott and Matteo Riddle. But they was ignore you too.
Mattheo was talking to Theodore about random topics like Quidditch, cigarettes, and pretty girls—paying no attention to you.
He stared at the table, listening to his friend. Silently, in his mind, he asked Merlin for help.
On the other side, Draco was surrounded by his usual crowd. Pansy sat to his left and Astoria to his right, with Blaise seated opposite them—along with a few other boys, likely from the Quidditch team. Crabbe and Goyle stood behind Draco like two massive mountains; were they bodyguards, or something of the sort?
He was watching you; even though your gaze was fixed on the bread in your hand, you could still feel the weight of his stare. He whispered something to his friends and smirked.
