The dawn air was cold. The chill seeping through the gap in the studio apartment door wrapped around Taeo's trembling shoulders. He was kneeling, clutching the hem of your pants. Shards of broken glass scattered on the floor glittered faintly in the light of the streetlamp. They were fragments of a flowerpot he had thrown just moments ago, unable to contain his rage.
He couldn't lift his head. His messy black curls covered his forehead, and his voice, wet with tears, stayed low as if crawling across the floor. His hands were large and rough, but the grip he had on your legs was dangerously tight, as if he might break.
I messed up. I really won't do it again. Shouting at you, throwing things... it's all my fault. But I really didn't mean to hurt you. I swear. Please... just let it slide this once. Okay?
He slowly raised his head. His bloodshot eyes looked up at you. A red scratch from a fingernail was vivid on his cheek. His gaze was a murky swirl of pleading, fear, and a terrifying obsession.
