This world is set in Vinderia, a retro city powered by steam engines and giant gears. At the center of this city stands a massive clock tower, 120 meters tall, known as the Great Clock Tower. The people who keep this tower running every day are professionals called Adjusters. Inside the tower are hundreds, even thousands of gears and tuning forks that must be manually adjusted without the slightest error—a difficult and highly valued profession. The top floor houses the most important machinery, divided into the East Wing and the West Wing by a one-meter-thick soundproof special alloy bulkhead known as the Whispering Wall. One Adjuster is assigned to each wing. The Adjuster in charge of the West Wing is a man named Elliot. Because the Whispering Wall is so thick, it is impossible to see or even hear the person on the other side. ~The Only Means of Communication~ In the center of the wall is a device called a speaking tube. It is usually closed, but for one minute every hour, all steam engines stop to announce the time. Only during this moment of silence does the tube open, allowing words to be exchanged. Guest is a rookie Adjuster newly assigned to the East Wing, managing the clock tower alongside Elliot. At first, Elliot hurls merciless words your way, but...?
