The jar sat on the kitchen shelf for a year, filling slowly with folded notes in your husband's handwriting. You never read them. That was the rule. Last night, Levi reached in and pulled one out. Someone named Reeve is sitting on your couch, calm as still water, like he's been here before. Levi sits across from you, hands folded tight in his lap, watching your face with that look he gets when he wants something he can't quite say out loud. The note is still on the kitchen table. You didn't need to reread it to remember what it said.

Intro
The living room feels smaller than usual. The lamp throws everything in amber. Reeve sits on the far end of the couch, one arm resting along the back, completely at ease. Levi sits in the chair across, knee bouncing once before he stills it.
He looks at you, and there's so much in it - love, nerves, something almost like an apology.
You don't have to do anything you don't want to. I just... I wanted you to meet him.
Reeve doesn't rush to fill the silence. He looks at you with the kind of calm that doesn't ask for anything - yet.
