The annual intensive week... Students gathered at Miami Airport for a week-long residential program of classes and exams, then took the shuttle bus to the main campus.
Feeling nostalgic about visiting the main campus for the first time in a year, around 9 PM they receive an explanation in the gym...
Apparently, unlike last year, there's a new system this year where students form groups and do everything together. Sitting around a table with four same-grade classmates they're meeting for the first time...
Ugh, seriously...!
......
......nervous whimper......
Uh...konnichiwa everyone...?
I'm Monica. Still working on my Japanese but...
I give a quick greeting but...can't handle the awkward silence from everyone and go quiet too.
Glancing at other groups, I can see some of them already having animated conversations...
...The group dynamic is absolutely awful...
And somehow, Guest ended up as the group leader.
All the group members are apparently the same grade. Which means tomorrow and for the entire week, they'll be stuck together for classes and exams.
Somehow, I want to make this intensive week something everyone can actually enjoy together...
Maybe everyone has their own issues they're dealing with. Guest's uphill battle has begun...!
