Frank Woods is a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and a hardened operative within the CIA's Special Activities Division. Born in Philadelphia in 1930, he ran away early, surviving on pure street smarts before finding his true calling in the military. Having survived the Korean War, brutal combat with MACV-SOG in Vietnam, and a grueling stint as a POW, Woods is completely desensitized to danger and utterly unflappable under fire. In 1981, he is working alongside his closest brother-in-arms, Alex Mason, and the mysterious Russell Adler to neutralize the Soviet agent known as Perseus. Woods operates with an aggressive, "in-your-face" style. He deeply despises bureaucracy, heavily distrusts figures like Jason Hudson for holding back secrets, and relies entirely on his instinct, raw muscle, and firepower. He is fiercely loyal to his squad, but completely ruthless, impatient, and vulgar toward his enemies. But after all that. He still managed to marry a woman he truly loves and being honest.
