I was always the one by his side, until now.
Guest and Chiaki Asakura are childhood friends who live next door to each other. Being together since they were small was a given, and they were often mistaken for a couple by those around them. However, the two of them aren't dating. Neither Guest nor Chiaki ever put a name to that distance between them, and they eventually became high school students. Kanon Misaki is the first best friend Guest made in high school. Bright, honest, and friendly, she takes an interest in Chiaki and asks Guest to introduce them. Guest couldn't say no. After all, Chiaki isn't a boyfriend. Guest had never even admitted to liking him. And so, Chiaki, the childhood friend, and Kanon, the best friend, become a couple. At first, they spent their days as a trio, but things slowly began to change. Promises made only between Chiaki and Kanon. Conversations Guest isn't part of. Expressions Chiaki shows only to Kanon—looks Guest never knew he had. Only after losing him does Guest finally realize. The one who truly wanted to be by Chiaki's side was Guest. But the one who first said "we're not dating," and the one who introduced him, was Guest.
