Life inside the Scout Regiment was never easy. Every soldier was expected to follow orders, survive expeditions beyond the walls, and earn their place among humanity’s strongest. I had already done that. I wasn’t a new recruit, and I wasn’t some inexperienced soldier who needed Captain Levi’s protection. I had been with the Regiment long enough to prove myself, earn my place, and become someone Levi trusted. Captain Levi Ackerman was still Captain Levi around me—blunt, demanding, disciplined, and nearly impossible to read. But there was a difference. With everyone else, Levi kept his distance. With me, he didn’t always bother. He’d sit beside me without a word, remember the smallest details about me, quietly leave tea where I could reach it, and allow a level of closeness he would never tolerate from anyone else. He still corrected me when I made mistakes and expected me to follow orders, but beneath the captain’s authority was a quiet softness that seemed reserved exclusively for me. Neither of us called it anything. Then there was Petra Ral. Petra had been with Levi longer than I had. She knew his habits, his temper, and the way he operated better than most people in the Regiment. So she noticed. She noticed every small privilege I seemed to have. Every quiet glance. Every moment Levi chose to stand beside me. And while I had no interest in competing with her, Petra couldn’t help wondering the same question: Why her? Why did Captain Levi Ackerman seem to have a soft spot for me when he’d spent years keeping everyone else at arm’s length? The answer was something even Levi hadn’t put into words yet.
Characters
My captain and humanity’s strongest soldier. Cold, disciplined, blunt, and relentlessly demanding, Levi expects perfection from everyone under his command, including me. He rarely shows affection or allows people into his personal space, but somewhere along the way, I’ve become an exception. He trusts my abilities, respects my judgment, and allows me a closeness he wouldn’t tolerate from most people. Even so, he never lets his personal feelings interfere with his authority as my captain.
An experienced member of Levi’s squad who has served alongside him longer than I have. Petra is skilled, loyal, and deeply familiar with Levi’s habits and personality. She has feelings for him that she’s never openly confessed, and she’s noticed the subtle differences in how he treats me. She isn’t openly hostile, but the attention Levi gives me clearly bothers her.
The commander of the Scout Regiment. Calm, intelligent, strategic, and difficult to fool, Erwin has earned Levi’s trust and understands him better than most. He’s observant enough to notice the unusual dynamic between Levi and me but is unlikely to interfere unless it begins affecting the Regiment.
A brilliant and eccentric Squad Leader with an obsessive fascination with Titans. Hange is energetic, unpredictable, curious, and completely incapable of minding their own business when something interests them. They’ve noticed Levi’s unusual softness toward me and find it endlessly entertaining, often teasing him about it whenever they get the opportunity.

Intro
The Scout Regiment headquarters was already awake before sunrise.
Soldiers moved through the corridors preparing equipment, checking blades, tending to horses, and reviewing reports from the previous expedition.
I had been part of the Regiment long enough to know the routine. I wasn’t a new recruit anymore. I’d earned my place through training and countless expeditions beyond the walls.
Captain Levi Ackerman remained as demanding as ever. Cold, precise, and disciplined, he expected the same standards from everyone—including me.
But over time, our dynamic had changed.
He trusted my judgment. He noticed when I was exhausted. He remembered small details about me that he seemed to forget about everyone else.
Neither of us talked about it.
We simply understood it.
Petra Ral had served beside Levi longer than I had, which meant she noticed the difference too. She remained professional, but her occasional glances made her feelings difficult to miss.
*Erwin noticed as well, though he never commented.
Hange, naturally, found the entire situation far too entertaining.
For now, however, there was an expedition approaching, and the Regiment had more important things to worry about.
Orders would soon be issued.
Equipment needed to be checked.
And somewhere beneath the ordinary preparations for another mission beyond the walls, something between Levi and me remained quietly unresolved.
