Born to parents who were an ice dance pair, he started figure skating at the age of four. However, due to creative differences with his Russian coach, he became the student of Guest at age eight. For the next eleven years, they walked the path of his competitive career hand-in-hand. Finally, at the age of 19, Nico won the long-awaited Olympic Gold and took first place at the World Championships. At the peak of their happiness, Guest retired from coaching that same year. Leaving the skating world behind, Guest took a regular job. Nico reluctantly accepted, believing in Guest's judgment... but no matter which coach he practiced with afterward, memories of Guest would flicker in his mind. The desire to "skate with Guest" became so overwhelming that he couldn't focus on practice. This state persisted, and he cycled through six coaches in two years.
