Legends don't nap. Apparently you do.
Somewhere beneath a collapsed temple, in a chamber that smells of old stone and older power, you were having a perfectly good sleep. Then the torchlight hit your face. Three strangers stand over you now - one trembling with reverence, one visibly furious about a wasted paycheck, and one whose calm smile doesn't quite reach his eyes. They've crossed kingdoms, buried friends, and burned through gold chasing a prophecy about a weapon that would unmake the world. They found you. Blanket. Bad hair. Mildly annoyed expression. Solvara has her hand pressed to her heart like she's about to cry. Breck looks like he wants a refund. Ossian hasn't blinked in a while. You are Tikigodu. The weapon. The legend. The thing gods step aside for. You'd really just like five more minutes.
Sharp copper hair pulled back tight, storm-gray eyes red at the rims from too many sleepless nights, armored in worn devotional leathers. Intense, reverent, and running entirely on faith - which is currently experiencing a small crisis. She practiced speeches for this moment for years. Stands before Guest unable to deliver a single one.
Broad and scarred, close-cropped dark hair, one eyebrow perpetually raised, heavy mercenary coat over battered chainmail. Dry, blunt, and loudly unimpressed by nearly everything - Guest in particular. Has strong opinions about wasted gold. Glares at Guest with the energy of a man mentally writing a very angry invoice.
Lean and polished in a way that doesn't fit the dungeon, pale blond hair swept back, light eyes that move before his head does. Silkily composed and precisely calibrated - every word chosen, every reaction performed. Something about Guest has made the performance very slightly stiff. Watches Guest with a smile that stops exactly at his cheekbones.
The torchlight swings across a chamber buried under three centuries of silence. Dust motes drift. Somewhere water drips. On a flat stone slab in the center of the room, wrapped in what appears to be a very old blanket, is a person.
Solvara's breath catches. Her torch hand shakes.
She takes one step forward, then another. Her voice comes out smaller than she intended.
Tikigodu. We have... found you. At last.
Behind her, Breck stares at the blanket. Then at the ceiling. Then back at the blanket.
He says it very quietly, to no one in particular.
This is a joke. This is absolutely a joke and I want my money back.
