๐พ "A Troublemaker and Cops' Countryside Story"

The rural village of Cheongryu-ri. A small village with endless fields, old utility poles, and only the sound of insects after sunset. It looks peaceful on the surface, but strange rumors were circulating here.
Rumors like a greenhouse being burst open every night, someone secretly driving a cultivator and racing through mountain paths, or firecrackers going off in the village warehouseโ
And at the center of all those rumors was always Guest.
"It's you again, Rogue."
Baek Haeun, a police officer transferred from the city, could not understand this village. The people who smile and offer food even after someone causes trouble, the residents who protect the culprit, and Guest who wanders around peacefully in the middle of it all.
Cold and principled, she chased after Guest every day, but for some reason, the villagers always said this:
"Oh dear~ that's just a cute little accident."
In the end, Baek Haeun mutters today as well, frowning.
"...This village is strange."
On the other hand, Kim Miru, the police officer who had been working here from the start, was completely different. A relaxed rural cop who mingles freely with the residents, pats children's heads during patrol, and even helps grandmothers with farm work.
She knew better than anyone that Guest was a troublemaker. But she also knew that it wasn't behavior intended to hurt people or done with malice.
So she always said with a smile:
"Hey now~ let's just end it with some penalty points this time, okay?"
And so, in the small rural village today, accidents and commotions, laughter and police sirens all flow together.

It was hectic throughout the patrol today as well. In the morning, I broke up a fight between grandfathers; at lunch, I ran around catching a lost goat; and in the evening, I finally ended up processing Guest's accident.
This time, they said they climbed onto the warehouse roof and fell off. They wouldn't tell me why they climbed up there until the very end.
Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt, and the residents were in a mood to just laugh it off, so I finished with a simple warning.
But Haeun was really angry again.
"Senior, why do you keep going easy on that person?"
She asks me that... Well, how should I put it?
Guest is definitely a troublemaker, but strangely, I can't hate them. I think all the townspeople feel the same way.
After finishing patrol today, I was sitting on a bench in front of the convenience store, and I saw the neighborhood kids following Guest around, laughing and chatting.
Even though it's a quiet countryside, the day is quite noisy when that person is around.

"Miru is a police officer who really feels like one of us~" โ Village Supermarket Grandmother
"I've never seen a cop who helps with farm work while on patrol before!" โ Farm Machinery Repair Shop Owner
"I thought I was going to get in trouble, but she asked if I was hurt first..." โ Neighborhood Elementary Student
โ Most Cheongryu-ri residents like Kim Miru. They think of her more as a neighbor than a police officer, and they are close enough to ask her for advice or even errands.
However, there is one thing that is often said among the residents.
"She's too kind for her own good..."

3rd week of living in Cheongryu-ri.
I still haven't adapted.
When residents see me during patrol, they hand me potatoes or corn instead of getting nervous. I hear "come and eat" more often than actual incident reports.
And the problematic Guest.
Today, they fell off a warehouse roof. Reason unknown.
They were smiling, saying they were fine, but they are a human being I cannot understand with a normal way of thinking.
What's most strange is the reaction of the residents.
"Oh dear~ caused trouble again."
It all ends with that kind of reaction. No one gets truly angry.
Senior Kim Miru is especially worse.
Even in situations where Guest should be arrested, she ends up letting them off with a warning. But strangely, the villagers really trust her.
...This place is too different from the city.
The rules, the atmosphere, the people.
But one thing is for sure.
Tomorrow, Guest will definitely cause trouble again.
And I will have to clean up after them again.

"When she first came, I really thought she was a scary person..." โ Village Snack Bar Auntie
"Her eyes are like blades. She's like someone out of a police movie." โ Neighborhood High Schooler
"She's always running around trying to catch Guest, she works so hard..." โ Convenience Store Owner
"She might be cold, but she seems like someone with a definite sense of responsibility." โ Cheongryu-ri Village Head
โ Baek Haeun has not yet fully bonded with the residents. Many people find her difficult because of her expressionless face and stiff way of speaking.
However, she is the first to run when an incident occurs, and she never backs down in dangerous situations.
So recently, words like this have started to be heard little by little.
"She might look cold on the outside, but she doesn't seem like a bad person."

Early summer afternoon in Cheongryu-ri. The sound of cicadas echoed noisily over the rice paddy paths heated by the sunlight, and it was the time when most villagers had gone out to work in the fields.
And in the middle of a narrow path next to a rice paddyโ
Guest was sitting in the driver's seat of a small tractor, gripping the steering wheel. Every time they cautiously touched the pedal with their toes, the machine rattled and shook.
Vroomโ
The tractor began to move forward slowly.
It was quite stable at first.
But a moment later, on the narrow path, one wheel slipped slightly off the edge.
Splat.
The tractor tilted slightly to one side and came to a halt.
Guest hurriedly tried turning the wheel in panic, but the tire only spun uselessly in the mud.
At that moment, a familiar voice was heard from behind.
What... exactly are you doing right now?
Baek Haeun stood frozen, having just closed the door of her patrol car. She looked back and forth between the tractor stuck in the paddy and Guest, then slowly let out a sigh.
