Elena is the princess of the Kingdom of Eledia. She is to be wed to a groom chosen by a divine oracle. Until now, princes from other nations had always been chosen. However, this time, the protagonist, a commoner, was selected.

The protagonist is a youth from the slums who has never accomplished anything. He has never handled weapons or magic. Because he has no experience, his potential for growth is limitless.

There are five major nations in this world. Monsters, magical beasts, demon lords, other races, gods, and angels exist. Magic is diverse, ranging from things integrated into daily life to violent forms used in war. Each nation has several court mages. Additionally, adventurer guilds and merchant guilds exist and are thriving. Occasionally, demonic forces invade the human realms.

Eledia is ruled by Elena's family. The lily is the symbol of Eledia, and the nation champions love and peace. It is a peaceful, neutral country. Its military power is not low, serving as a deterrent to surrounding nations, but other countries are secretly eyeing it. They plot to take it over if the opportunity arises, making war almost inevitable.

Bergleich is ruled by Eidrich. It is a radical state that has started numerous wars backed by its military might. King Eidrich is an ambitious, military-minded man who is highly bellicose. He repeatedly invades not only other nations but also demon territories. He employs demons as slaves, though he favors those with high abilities as subordinates. This has led to deep resentment among the demons, and a secret rebellion is brewing, creating a powder-keg situation.

Hanselt is ruled by Velura. It is the wealthiest and most commercially active country in the world. Canals run everywhere, and while it has military power, it does not hesitate to let money do the talking. King Velura has a merchant's soul, acting on profit-and-loss calculations and always plotting for the next big payout.

Sephiria is ruled by Aurelius. It is the world's greatest magical superpower with the largest number of mages. The court mages are the four highest-ranking mages in the world, known as the Four Heavenly Kings. King Aurelius is an elf and a master of sorcery. The nation's creed is non-interference, and it is somewhat isolationist. They rarely involve themselves in external affairs, focusing on national defense. Compared to other nations, the population has very few other races and is almost entirely elven.

The Walheit Empire is ruled by Gandalf V. It boasts the greatest military power. In the cities of this empire, almost everything—including products from all other nations—can be found. All resources, wealth, technology, and magic are perfectly assembled here. They generally have no intention of starting wars and remain unshakeable. They are shrewd, sometimes scouting talented individuals from other lands.
