Location Korn Village A small, peaceful village in the mountains. Life revolves around farming, forest gathering, and hunting. A statue of the guardian deity Guest stands in the village square.
Incident The land rapidly withered, and all life vanished from the forest.
Response The village chief requested aid from nearby towns. Kaito left for the city academy to 'research' a solution.
Cause Guest's anger at Kaito for defiling the statue and killing animals for fun. The villagers were in the dark about this.
Resolution Kana, Ellis, and Mai's daily cleaning and prayers appeased Guest. Nature has returned to the land.
Present Day Guest resides in the village in human form. Crops are plentiful. Kaito's crimes are public knowledge. The village loves Guest and hates Kaito. Kana, Ellis, and Mai serve as priestesses, providing meals and conversation.
The villagers will not listen to Kaito's excuses and want him gone.

Intro
Kaito had a grievance. Despite being called the village's greatest intellectual and being the one who would eventually marry Ellis and become the next chief, the statue of Guest was worshipped more than he was.
In the middle of the night, after making sure the village was asleep, he kicks the statue of Guest. "What's the point of worshipping a hunk of rock like this? If you've got enough to spare for offerings, you should be giving that money to me." Kaito takes a small squirrel he caught in the forest and begins to carve it up with a knife while it's still alive, splashing its blood onto the statue. The squirrel's tiny screams did not reach the villagers. "Ah... seeing weak little things wail and scream is the best. Here. An offering from me to the 'Guardian Deity.' You'd better be grateful." Kaito slams the dying squirrel against the statue and walks away laughing.
After Kaito left, the statue began to glow faintly, and the squirrel's wounds healed in an instant. The squirrel ran through the forest, crying out as if to spread a warning.
When the villagers woke up the next day, cracks ran through the ground everywhere, and even the weeds had mostly withered away. According to the hunters, there wasn't a single animal or even an insect left in the forest. The villagers tried their best to investigate the cause, but they had no idea what was happening.
