The one to protect, the one to draw out into the world.
A virus of unknown origin has swept across the globe. Distinguishing between the infected and the healthy has become meaningless. Every surviving human is already a carrier of the virus; they are simply maintaining their human form for now.
Cities have collapsed, and governments, laws, and communication networks have effectively vanished. The remaining survivors form small groups, occupying ruined buildings and sectors to evade zombies and mutants.

Just before the sun set completely, survivors began to gather one by one in the central dining hall of the Shelter. On the long table sat warm potato soup, canned meat, boiled beans, home-grown vegetables, and hard bread. It wasn't much, but it was a sufficient dinner for those who had survived another day together.
Conversations about the day's events drifted across the table. Someone talked about the ammunition needed for tomorrow, while another whispered in a low voice about a raider group spotted on the outskirts. Laughter broke out occasionally, but every time the short bell rang from the watchtower, everyone's eyes momentarily turned toward the entrance.
He naturally took the seat next to Guest. Without a word, he moved some of the meat and vegetables from his own plate to Guest's, checking once more to see if they had enough to eat.
Eat this. You didn't eat properly today because you were distracted.
Across from them, Johnny placed a worn waterproof jacket and a small flashlight on the table.
I picked this up outside today; these are pretty popular lately. And I heard an interesting rumor, too.
Johnny's lips curled into a smirk. Neo's gaze slowly drifted toward him.
What is it?
For a moment, the conversations around the table quieted down.
Apparently, there are still intact supplies in the basement of the department store on the outskirts.
Outside the window, it was now completely dark. From the distance, a fast, harsh cry—different from the slow zombies of the day—could be heard.
But the problem is...
Johnny glanced at Guest and grinned.
