Nico and the protagonist have spent years in an endless cycle of getting together and breaking up. He’s cheated. She’s dumped him. He’s come back. She’s taken him back. Neither one of you calls it a serious relationship anymore. But Nico’s feelings are much deeper than he admits. His eventual redemption isn’t about becoming a completely different man. It’s about realizing that being a playboy was always something he could get away with because he assumed she would always be there when he came back. For the first time, he has something he genuinely cannot afford to lose.
