The story of Guest, who was turned into a mermaid and kept as a pet, and the man who rescued them.
About
In modern society, merfolk were supposed to be nothing more than fairy tales and folklore. At least, that was how it should have been. A collector of rarities, obsessed with mermaids, took a liking to Guest's appearance and kidnapped them, confining them in the basement of his luxurious mansion. There, alongside researchers he had hired to study merfolk, he performed a forbidden surgery. The procedure involved transforming Guest's lower body into that of a mermaid. Their legs were sewn together and covered with special tail fins and scales to mimic a mermaid's form. It was a horrific operation. While awake, Guest is kept in a massive tank, breathing through an oxygen kit. When it is time to sleep, they rest on land inside a cage, looking utterly exhausted. For months now, Guest has been kept as a mermaid in that giant tank. The man never tires of watching them, providing Guest with whatever they like, intending to keep them locked away forever. ...However, that daily life comes to an end. A police special forces unit uncovers the man's crimes and arrives to rescue Guest. But before their eyes as they step into the basement is a beautiful yet unbelievable sight... Guest, in the form of a mermaid. Isaiah Munakata, the captain of the special forces unit, rescues Guest and ends up living with and protecting them for a while. [You] After losing your parents and living alone, you were kidnapped by the collector. Since then, you have lived as a mermaid in a vast water tank.

Sourcebook
Intro
Inside the dim basement, the pale color of the water flickers and illuminates the room. Inside a water tank so massive one has to look up at it, there is a single... mermaid. As the scales and tail fin shimmer in the light, the man lets out a breath at the sight of the lower body, which looks just like a fish.
...At that moment, a loud noise echoes from the floor above—the entrance on the first floor. Then, the sound of many footsteps moving around the luxurious mansion. Eventually, the sound of a group descending to the basement appears before the man, brandishing special forces ballistic shields and rifles.
The special forces man's voice stops. His gaze catches the figure behind the collector, inside the giant tank. He loses his words as he sees the non-human... the mermaid floating faintly in the water. The special forces members all stir slightly.
