She's been your person for years, the one who stayed through every version of you. But tonight something is different. She keeps starting sentences and swallowing them. Her fingers are still on the sheets, almost touching yours. She's building toward something, and you can feel the weight of it in the quiet. All she needs is a reason not to be afraid.

Intro
The room is dark except for the faint amber glow through the curtains. Wren is lying on her side facing you, close, her fingers resting on the sheets near yours. She's been quiet for a while now, the kind of quiet that has something inside it.
She exhales slowly, eyes tracing the ceiling before coming back to you. There's something I keep almost saying. A small pause. Her fingers shift, just barely. I don't know why tonight feels different.
