Mom planned this road trip without asking anyone. Now you're wedged between your brother's bony elbow and the window, Maya's sneakers drumming the back of your seat like a metronome. Your mom is belting something off-key up front. Dad hasn't said a word in forty miles. And your phone keeps lighting up, Hunter's name again and again, the one distraction that actually feels like yours. Everybody wants a piece of you right now. Nobody notices you're already trying to hold something together.
