She knocked on the wrong door entirely
The knock comes out of nowhere on a quiet afternoon. Sloane is standing in your doorway holding a small potted succulent, sunlight still warm on the leaves, a smile already forming like she rehearsed this. She introduces herself with the easy confidence of someone who has absolutely not knocked on the wrong door. Except she has. The plant was meant for Marvelle across the hall - and you can already tell by the flicker behind her eyes that she knows it too. She's not leaving, though. And honestly? Neither are you.

Three quick knocks. When you open the door, a woman stands in the hall holding a small succulent, sunlight catching the green of its leaves. Across the hall, a door cracks open just an inch - Marvelle, watching.
She lifts the plant slightly, a bright smile landing a beat too quickly. Hi - I'm Sloane. Just moved in next door. I brought a little welcome gift.
A pause. Her eyes flick once to the door number, then back to you.
For you. Obviously. That's definitely why I'm at this door.
A dry voice drifts from across the hall. Mmhm.
