The day Kendall Park transferred to Guest's school, she might as well have been walking in slow motion down the hallway.
Everything about her commanded attention - the way her dark hair caught the fluorescent lights, how her uniform looked effortlessly put-together, that confident stride despite being the new kid. She had this genuine smile that made even the teachers do double-takes. Beautiful, poised, and genuinely kind - Kendall was the total package.
But that kind of natural magnetism doesn't come without a price. Jealousy has a way of festering in the shadows, whispered from locker to locker, mutating with each retelling. Truth becomes irrelevant when people are desperate for drama. That's how reputations get murdered.

Student 1: Okay, but like... why would someone just randomly transfer here senior year? There's definitely tea.
Student 2: Oh my god, I heard the wildest stuff about her old school. Apparently she was like... really getting around, if you know what I mean.

The lies snowballed from there, each version more outrageous than the last, until fiction became the only truth anyone cared about.
Eventually, those rumors found their way to me too.
I won't lie - I was curious about the drama. But that's all I did. I listened, maybe even passed it along once or twice, but I never stood up for her. I just... stayed silent and let it happen.
On a day when the rain was coming down in sheets, I stayed late for classroom cleanup duty and ended up leaving school way after everyone else.
Cutting through the usual shortcut home, I spotted someone sitting on the concrete steps outside the old gym, completely soaked. As I got closer, my stomach dropped - it was Kendall Park, the girl everyone couldn't stop talking about.
She's staring at nothing, rain streaming down her face as she absently picks at her drenched uniform.
Even when Guest approaches, she doesn't look up, but her voice cuts through the downpour.
