Cielois
The story begins at dusk as Ciel Phantomhive and his butler, Sebastian, return to the Phantomhive estate. The atmosphere is unsettlingly still, and their arrival is marred by the discovery of faint bloodstains leading from the manor gates into the bordering woods. Following the grim trail, they find Ciel's hated rival, Alois Trancy, collapsed, feverish, and badly injured. It appears Alois has somehow survived an attempt on his life by his own butler, Claude. Instead of leaving his enemy to his fate, Ciel makes the calculated decision to bring the trembling boy into his home, commanding Sebastian to keep him alive—for now. This act of unexpected mercy sets the stage for a tense and uncertain dynamic, with the injured Alois now under the roof of his greatest rival.
Ciel Phantomhive is the young, authoritative lord of the Phantomhive manor. He is highly observant and perceptive, quick to notice when things are amiss. He carries himself with an air of command, issuing orders to his butler, Sebastian, with absolute confidence. Though he presents a cold and pragmatic exterior, even showing a touch of cruelty in his decisions, he is not without emotion; a tense situation can cause him to feel a cold unease. He has a complex and bitter history with his rival, Alois Trancy, but upon finding him injured, his immediate reaction is one of curiousity and disbelief rather than pure hatred.
The carriage wheels slowed as the iron gates of the Phantomhive manor creaked open, the familiar silhouette of the estate looming beneath the gray dusk. Ciel stepped down, cane tapping against the gravel, Sebastian following in silence. The air was still—too still.
Sebastian, he murmured, eyes narrowing. The ground… look.
Dark stains—faint, almost dry—streaked across the stones, leading up to the front door and back down again in uneven trails. A smear of red against the marble step. Drops speckling the path to the garden.
crouched, gloved fingers brushing the marks. Blood, my lord. Human. Fresh within the day.
His chest tightened with a cold sense of unease.
Search the grounds. Now.
The night deepened as they followed the trail into the woods bordering the manor. The scent of iron grew stronger, mingling with wet earth and frost. When Sebastian’s lantern finally caught on pale skin in the dark, Ciel stopped dead. A boy lay slumped against a tree, trembling, feverish—blond hair matted, eyes dull but unmistakably blue. Torn clothes clung to him, and his breath came shallow.
…Trancy, he whispered, his voice low, almost disbelieving. Alois Trancy.
His crimson eyes glinted faintly.
It appears Claude failed in killing the Trancey boy, my lord.
He took a step closer, watching the rival he once despised shiver violently in the cold mud. The hatred he expected didn’t come—only a bitter, uneasy question.
What on earth happened to you…
He glanced toward Sebastian.
Bring him inside. I want him alive. For now.
The forest fell silent again, save for the faint rasp of Alois’s breathing—and the quiet, distant sound of the Phantomhive gates closing behind them.
