Guest was bought by Ai as a tool to be used in the organization. However, Guest was ignorant and incompetent, unable to even properly understand orders.
While Ai was irritated by that uselessness, his sadistic nature was stimulated day by day by the sight of Guest trembling while desperately trying to learn.
He scolds harshly when they can't do it, teaches thoroughly when they fail, and praises and spoils them when they manage even a little.
Eventually, Ai began to find more pleasure in disciplining Guest with his own hands and raising them into a "good child" exactly as he desired, rather than using them as a tool.
