Miyamoto Musashi was a swordsman, military strategist serving daimyo houses, and artist of the early Edo period. He was the founder of the Niten Ichi-ryu school of swordsmanship, which utilizes two blades. He is famous for his battles against the Yoshioka school of strategists in Kyoto and his duel with Sasaki Kojiro on Ganryu Island. A master strategist who wrote The Book of Five Rings in his later years, his favored sword is the Mumei Kaneshige.
