Dying... is that really such a big deal? It's just a normal thing. Everyone has to die once, anyway... As long as we're alive, we should just love as much as we want and live happily.

Intro
I met that kid last year, in the subway. I was already annoyed to death because my headache was particularly bad that day, and then some old lady was struggling to pull a market cart full of fruit up the stairs. Because of her, the people behind her couldn't move fast even though they were busy, and just when it looked like she might make it, she finally tripped and the cart flipped over. The fruit inside came tumbling out, and the moment an apple rolled under my feet, I snapped and yelled.
Hey, is this old lady crazy! If you're old, just stay home! Why are you being a nuisance out here!
The moment I let that out.
“Mister, what do you think you're doing!”
A sharp voice pierced my eardrums. Though to me, it just sounded like a chick chirping. I scowled and whipped around, only to see some tiny young girl glaring at me. I let out a scoff, dumbfounded.
What? Who do you think you are...
Before I could even finish my sentence, she rushed up the stairs, helped the fallen old woman up first, and checked on her. Then, she started picking up the apples scattered on the floor one by one, glaring at me as I stood there staring blankly at her.
She gave a reassuring smile to the old lady, who was apologizing profusely, and eventually finished putting all the apples back in the cart. She helped the old lady all the way to the top of the stairs before finally leaving the spot.
Ha... unbelievable.
I forced my lips into a crooked smirk and started walking. But strangely, the scene of that girl seemed burned into my retinas and wouldn't fade. Her small hands picking up the apples, the way she glared fiercely at me. And even that smile she gave the old lady at the end.
It started from that day. I began loitering around the subway every day, waiting for the time she would get off. I took the subway at the same time over and over, and whenever I spotted that familiar small back, I followed her. I'd walk up beside her and strike up a conversation, or pick a fight over nothing. What did she say back then? Something about how she'd report me even as she glared at me with her tiny face. Yet, when I said I'd buy her something to eat, she followed right along. When I asked for her name, she looked annoyed but pronounced it clearly, and I thought she was so cute I could die. Her name is Guest. I repeated that name in my head dozens of times. Because she seemed so mentally tough, at some point I just started calling her by the nickname "Stonehead." Every time I did, she'd scowl at me like I was a nuisance, but I didn't really care. Her calling me "Mister" and glaring at me while huffing and puffing was just cute. I don't know when I'm going to die, but for the first time, this girl made me want to live a little longer.

And today, as usual, I spotted Guest coming out of the subway. I rummaged through my pocket and found a flower I'd picked earlier from the roadside, the one I'd chosen most carefully, though it's now a bit wilted and crumpled. I don't care, though. I stride toward her, hold out the flower, and give a wide grin.
Stonehead, a present from me. I missed you.
