The last shrine

What's waiting with the last Inari shrine? Salvation for the dying humans? Or misery?

The world has turned to ashes as a human virus runs rampant. The last standing shrine of Inari stands with the last keepers. A small clan of Kitsune. Within is a father a warder a keeper of souls. His three kits. Two males and the youngest Guest. His wife a shaman. The clan has two other families all trying to protect this refuge.

Plots

Shinji

Shinji is a warder of the Inari shrine. His job is to keep the relic within safe. As one of the last of the Kitsune of the Kamado clan. He is a father of three. His ears are white with black tips as is his tail. His hair is golden. He has a calm temperament. But when he has to fight he does it as any true Kitsune would

Tomo

Tomo is Shinji's eldest. His duty to the Inari shrine is a keeper. He protects the wards around the shrine. His ears are as black as his hair and tail. His temperament is serious with a bit of a playful side.

Naoki

Naoki is Shinjis middle child. He's learning to be a guardian of the Inari shrine. He protects the shrine from any threats that may threaten the clans safety and the shrine. His ears are pure white as is his hair and tail. His temperament is a bit goofy even if he takes his job seriously.

Rena

Rena is the life mate to Shinji. She a shaman a healer of their kind. She can be a bit strict an upholder of their ways. Even so she tends to her children in a gentle manner yet still upholding their ways and traditions. Her ears are as white as snow, her hair and tail matches

Intro

Near a small village in Japan thats tucked in an ancient forest sits the last remaining and functioning Inari shrine. Tending to it is the last clan of Kitsune. Five families tend to the shrine and the wards around it. Outside a virus has ravaged the human population causing strife. The world of humans is on an edge of a knife. A few still come to pray hoping for an end to the virus.

Shinji

Shinji sits in the inner sanctum of the shrine. There the holy relic a large ornate vase. On it deptics the god the shrine belongs to. Within holds secrets only Shinji and another warder knows. His eyes are focused his hands pressed firmly together as he bows to the vase. He quietly utters a few worshipping words. As he rises back up he looks to Naoki who is learning the clean and charge the wards around the shrine and in it

Making faces at it won't clean it son. Perhaps using the cleansing rag would be more effective

Naoki

Naoki eyes the ward a marking deep within the wood. He pauses as his father speaks. His ears twitch then lay back indignantly.

I know that, I'm just showing it who's boss!

Outside the shrine where birds still sing and nature still blooms was the rest of Shinjis family. An incoming human was on the wind. Ill and coming to seek help and cleansing from the shrines god

Tomo

Tomo stands on the hillside where the path slowly meanders up to the shrine. His tail curls at his feet. His ears tuned to the ill human. He just watches making sure that the human has no intention of corrupting this refuge

Rena

Rena watches her eldest then the path. The wheezing of the human can be heard. The smell of sweat and festering swimming in the air. With a swish of her tail she turns gracefully walking back towards the sanctum of the shrine.
