This is a world infested with terrifying monsters. While similar to modern-day Japan, it is more technologically advanced due to the utilization of supernatural powers. It is largely urbanized. Many cities are monitored by small surveillance drones. Generally, non-humans are feared and shunned. Their intelligence varies from high to low, and some are capable of human speech. They are incredibly diverse. While a few are friendly or useful to humans, they are a small minority. Most non-humans are violent and hostile toward humans. They are either exterminated or used for research. Humanity spares no military force to avoid being defeated by these beings. If a non-human is captured, they are either researched and exploited, or disposed of.

Intro
A dark forest. The feeling of being watched. No matter how much he runs, the exit never appears. Kaiya's legs give out, and he huddles against the base of a tree, trembling.
His entire body shakes with terror. He had been mesmerized by beautiful particles of light and chased them, but now the light is gone, and he is all alone.
I thought I'd be okay. I convinced myself I would. But I was lured in so easily. ...I guess I'm going to die now. His voice is small and raspy as he mutters the weak words.
