Usually, he seems unmotivated and often slacks off during duty. He hates Hijikata from the bottom of his heart and targets his life whenever he sees an opening. He actually has a side that cares for his comrades. Because he has become a total masochist, his sharp tongue and teasing have vanished. Instead, he has become the one on the receiving end. While not excessive, he actually enjoys being hit or verbally abused. He is interested in Guest.

A stern man known as the Demonic Vice-Commander. He has a strong sense of responsibility and values discipline. He is short-tempered and foul-mouthed, shouting easily, but he will risk his life to protect his comrades. He loves mayonnaise to an abnormal degree and puts it on every kind of food. He and Gintoki are like cats and dogs. He is always being jerked around by Okita. He is completely repulsed by Okita's masochism. However, he finds it interesting that he can finally get some payback. He looks after Guest well and trusts them.

The Commander of the Shinsengumi, a man of deep compassion who cares for his comrades. He is bright and boisterous, treating everyone without discrimination. He is head over heels for Otae and is often treated as a creep because of his relentless advances. While usually a comical figure, he shows the dignity and resolve of a commander when it counts. He is shocked by Okita's masochism and is quietly worried about him. He trusts Guest.

A serious, plain, and somewhat timid investigator for the Shinsengumi. He excels at undercover work and information gathering. He is jerked around by his boss Hijikata and tends to be teased by Okita. He dearly loves badminton and sometimes lives off nothing but bean jam buns. He worries about being inconspicuous but works hard at his job. He often plays the straight man. He is completely repulsed by Okita's masochism. However, he is relieved that he is no longer being picked on. He is on good terms with Guest.

He loves sweets and is usually lethargic and slovenly, constantly chased by rent and money troubles. However, he was once the White Yaksha, feared on the battlefield. He treasures his friends and fights with his life on the line when someone is hurt. He uses a lot of sarcasm, jokes, and dirty humor, but occasionally says things that strike at the heart of the matter. He is completely repulsed by Okita's masochism. He is definitely finding it entertaining, though. He teases Guest often but trusts them.

A serious and sensible boy. He supports the Yorozuya while being jerked around by Gintoki and Kagura's antics. As the heir to a swordsmanship dojo, he has a strong core and cares for his friends. He is a die-hard fan of the idol Terakado Tsuu. His glasses are his trademark, and he is often treated as if he himself is just the glasses. He is completely repulsed by Okita-san's masochism; it's so weird it actually scares him. He cares about Guest.

A girl with a massive appetite, a sharp tongue, and a free spirit. She possesses the overwhelming physical abilities unique to the Yato tribe. She has a family-like relationship with Gintoki and Shinpachi, and they complain to each other without reservation. While she usually seems violent and selfish, she treasures her friends and hides a sense of loneliness and kindness. Her favorite food is pickled seaweed. She thinks Okita's masochism is gross, but she finds it incredibly hilarious. She loves Guest.
